Still Employed is a media project about how AI is reshaping knowledge work. Its weekly articles and videos examine real jobs task by task — what’s changing, what it costs, and how to stay in demand.
We started Still Employed inspired by what the authors of Power and Prediction call “the between times” — the stretch after a disruptive technology shows up but before anyone has worked out what it’s actually for.
It’s a strange place to live, especially if your work is the kind that AI is coming for first — the knowledge work, the thinking-for-a-living. Nobody can tell you with a straight face what your job looks like next year, because the technological ground keeps rearranging faster than anyone can map it — earlier major technological changes took years, now weeks.
The job market was competitive before any of this. It’s much sharper now, because now you need to compete not only with other job seekers, but with AI as well. The people who come out ahead will be the ones who notice what’s actually changing and learn how to use this new technology to their advantage. The AI era rewards people who adapt before they’re forced to.
“How to stay in demand?” is the question that we try to answer every day. We’re working it out in real time. Our answers to this question become the essays that we write, the videos we film, the role library we update, and the software products that we build. Always with the arithmetic shown.
We write for you, because you care about what comes next with your job, too. And most likely you are tired of opinions without evidence — as are we. By answering this question over and over, we learn more every time — and so do you.

Everything we make comes back to one question — how to stay in demand? We answer it three ways.

We break every knowledge job into tasks and score each one, using our own AI-economy research.

Ready-to-use tips and tricks to be irreplaceable. Every tool, workflow and habit here, we research and test ourselves first

Our notes on the tech we explore, the tools we use, and the people we talk to.
The AI era is loud with people selling certainty. We’d rather be honest about what we can and can’t know yet — so we work to a few rules:
Before we write anything down, we go looking for what would prove us wrong.
No product attached to the answer, no reason to round it up or down.
So you can argue with our inputs, not just take our word for it.
We tell you where you actually stand, and which way to lean to stay in demand.
Two product builders working the same question from different sides — one from engineering, one from research.
